A THING INCREDIBLE

 

 

There are some incredible sights in the world that are both beautiful and powerful. Mount Redoubt, as an active volcano, is one. Hopefully, we will continue to see its power and beauty and not feel its effect.

It is interesting how an anthropomorphized Mother Nature gets the credit for beauty and wonder in the world. However, when those same forces of nature become destructive storms with winds and waves, God gets the blame.

Spring is an incredible time with all the plant life bursting forth, birds and fish return, and the seasonal change is in full swing. Winter is releasing its cold grip. Longer days and warmer temperatures are finally here.

We celebrate Easter and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an incredible story, and something believers can continue to celebrate all year.

The followers of Jesus were so impacted and changed by the reality of the resurrection that they constantly referred to it. The Book of Acts, the history of the early church, records more than eighteen times where the disciples mention the resurrection of Jesus.

Paul asked a king named Agrippa, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you that God should raise the dead?” This is the only time the word incredible is in the Bible.

Why indeed. The king with all his power could not reverse death. Politics and philosophy, money, and medicine cannot bring about a resurrection of the dead. Even world religious leaders fail to measure up. There may be resurrections recorded in folklore and mythology but they are not based in reality.

The disciples of Jesus went on to experience literal resurrections with individuals named Tabitha, Eutychus, and Paul raised from the dead. Thousands more experienced a spiritual resurrection. New life followed the new birth.

It is incredible to see the changes Jesus can make in a person who believes in him. Destructive, negative behaviors are replaced by peace and power through the presence of the resurrected Christ. A repentant believer becomes a creation, with old things passing away and all things becoming new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The hope of a resurrection to eternal life keeps us faithful to God, obedient to his word, and expectant of the return of Jesus. He is the one who claimed, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” You can know the power of his resurrection. Choose to follow him and obey his word faithfully. You will be amazed at the incredible work he does.
